The
Data Manager
can be used to download high-quality 30m terrain data for your analysis region directly
from our servers.
You will need to
install the Data Manager
before you can access any of the functions it provides, and you will also need to
set the
Analysis Region
to the area of interest before the download can start.
Once you have set your analysis region, the quickest way to load and visualize terrain
data from the Data Manager is by adding a terrain map. From the
Start Page
select Maps:
Then press the Add button:
This will give a list of different map types to add. Select from the list:
We add a Distance Map because terrain data is a raster of distance values. Once
the new distance map is added, its properties are shown. Expand the
Data Source property and press Edit List:
This opens the Distance collection editor, and shows all the
Distance GeoData
providers defined in your project. Now you can add the Data Manager terrain provider
by selecting "Terrain (Data Manager)" from the Add
selector:
The new terrain provider has properties that control the location of the data cache
and interpolation options, but none of these need changing from the defaults. Click
OK to add the new terrain provider and close
this dialog. This will return you to the properties for the distance map. Pressing
the Show On Map button will start the download
of the terrain data for the analysis region and will make the map visible when it
completes.
The terrain data is cached on the disk so the download for any particular region
will only be done once. You can track the progress of the download from the
Status Bar
and the
Event Log.
Organization
Overture maintains a separation between the data (in this case the terrain data)
and the visualization component (in this case a distance map) to allow the user
to add multiple map views for a single data source.
Remarks
Terrain data can be used for a variety of RF planning tasks, including RF prediction
modeling. Overture's Presto prediction models are ideally suited to using the terrain
data from the Data Manager.
